Transport Minister Anthony Loke on Monday said the installation of the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) scheme will be delayed by “at least six months”, while the ministry looks at improving the implementation process of the radio frequency identification (RFID) tags for Singaporean vehicles.
He said this during a spot check at the Pasar Seni LRT Station in Kuala Lumpur.
Road Transport Department director-general Shaharuddin Khalid also said that based on records, over 230,000 Singapore vehicles have registered for the VEP, but only 60,000 have been installed with the RFID tag.
Noting that there are easily more than a million cars coming into Johor.
